Dominic McDowall, Cubicle 7 CEO said, “The Warhammer Age of Sigmar setting is fantasy at its most imaginative. The Mortal Realms are fascinating, highly evocative and hold endless possibilities for roleplaying. I am enormously excited to explore them with the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game!”

This news follows Cubicle 7’s announcement of the fourth edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay for release in 2017. These two games will be independent game lines with different rulesets.

So this one i'm genuinely baffled by, as i've seen nothing in Age of Sigmar that suggests any scope for a tabletop RPG, but it's perhaps a two-for-one or a required part of the license etc.

I think you're just getting confused because you lack the imagination to fully comprehend "fantasy at its most imaginative." This is not a personal attack, as I also failed that save and am left baffled by the corporate jive-talk and the smell of Badnottinghams.

I suspect there may be an element of "paying their dues" in return for being able to do the WFRP 4th edition as well.

Cubicle 7 just announced an Age of Sigmar RPG (details within)

Cubicle 7 just announced an Age of Sigmar RPG. However, it will NOT be compatible with their ruleset for WFRP 4e.

What do you think about this news?

Games Workshop and Cubicle 7 Entertainment have announced the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game, for release in 2018.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar is Games Workshop’s epic tale of heroes, gods and monsters fighting a desperate battle for the fate of the Mortal Realms.

Doom wrote it up in another thread and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Something about Sigmar flying on a magic rock through space. There is no world, just fragments floating in the void wherein armies do fight, fightily.

The latter, as best I can say.

Re: Cubicle 7 announce Age of Sigmar RPG

Sigmar survives the destruction of the Old World by Chaos. With the help of Dracothion he sets about trying to liberate the remaining Mortal Realms from the clutches of Chaos. Much fighting ensues.

The campaigns for the game so far have actually been pretty narrative, with a lot of special missions and secret plans going on going on, so I think they'll have some room to come up with enough RP elements to keep it interesting. Honestly, if people can roleplay Warhammer 40K, I see no reason that Age of Sigmar would be any different. However, there are a LOT of bitter folks out there who are going to lambast this game no matter how good it is. I imagine this will be a prety contentious release over all.

Re: Cubicle 7 announce Age of Sigmar RPG

I am excited to see what they can do with Age of Sigmar on the tabletop. It is a very evocative setting, and not simply because it takes place in the Warhammer universe.

That being said, there doesn't seem to be strategic, long term vision if both Age of Sigmar RPG and WFRP 4e reference a different ruleset. This is where Fantasy Flight Games dropped the ball with Dark Heresy, Only War and Rogue Trader: the games were almost wholly incompatible with one another, despite sharing the same dice mechanic.

*Shudder*!!! Okay, so it seems to be a background completely Independent of the Old World; at least in my view.
