CW: there aren’t many people with doubles on Earth-1 and Earth-S, but Oliver Queen did go to school with a guy named Alexander Luthor.

I thought it would be funny if there's a mysterious crime boss on Earth-1 known only as "Lex", and it turns out that it's actually Alex Danvers.

Vandal Savage suffers from a psychological issue that causes him to confabulate a life narrative in which he was personally in command in the various wars and conflicts he participated in. His bizarre claims to have been Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan*, etc are bullshit. The truth is that he was generally something like a third tier officer: high enough to push things toward his style of brutality, but low enough that he was still active in the field, and had little operational control. In a few hundred years, he'll probably be claiming to have been Hitler and Stalin...

Old Toby
Least Known Dog on the Net

*All nobles born to the highest strata of their society and well known to the rest of the power structure from childhood. Vandal couldn't have impersonated them without some kind of face-stealing technology or magic (which, AFAIK, he's never been shown to use) and being a hell of an actor, investigator, and cold-reader (which, AFAIK, he's never been shown to be).
Ehn. I like the idea that he lies about the specifics because while he has in fact been dozens of the most brutal and evil warlords the world has ever known...
...they tend to lose and not make popular knowledge these days, and he's kinda insecure about that.

So yes, he'll claim to have been Hitler, but it's because he was only the Fuehrer for about six months before Hitler was reinstated (which is the DCAU canon at least :) ) and Hitler is thus the one who goes down in history books. And this really bothers him.

to add to this, Savage generally avoids working with other immortals, because they inevitably call him on this bullshit

On that note, Vandal Savage and Ra's Al Gul haven't been on speaking terms since the 1920s. Neither one will speak of the incident, but when the subject of working with the other is brought up, the response is quick and to the point: "He knows what happened at Zanzibar!"

Truly, a riddle for the ages.

It may or may not have had something to do with one impersonating the other.

Ra's Al Ghul, at least, finds in infuriating that in the future they are commonly assumed to be the same person under different aliases.

Ra's Al Ghul is also constantly annoyed by Vandal constantly bringing up their age differences. He's over 600 years old, but Vandal keeps treating him like an upstart child because he's "only" over 600 years old.

Would blame Savage.
I mean 600 years is not much of boast.
Jason Blood is older then that.
