Yes, I'd like to keep going with the game.

As for the mess at hand, the only other thing Mel wants to do besides evacuate the ranch is publicly distribute the knowledge for creating a cure to the radioactive agent. They may not be able to stop people from using it as a weapon, but they can give people the tools to fight back.

Pitch - Episode 2: Safe Passage

Xiùlán's mother, on behalf of the temple, wants to hire the crew to safely transport one of her young wards from the monastery on Greenleaf to the companion's guild on Sihnon for further training. (The temple often provides the companion's guild with girls of martial training to become companions that can double as bodyguards for high ranking socialites, so this is not a particularly unusual arrangement). Xiùlán's mother is of the opinion that a private transport by a family member will be less traumatic than sending the girl via public freight, but currently has no one available that she can send from the Temple to escort the girl.

As an additional incentive, she is also sending several pallets of therapeutic herbs to the guild, so the crew would essentially be getting paid for two jobs on a single run.

There will still be shenanigans of course, but this seemed like a pretty straight forward 'point-A/point-B' episode idea after all the convoluted backflippery of the last episode.

Again, if the idea doesn't appeal, let me know, and we can go with something else. I have several others churning in my back brain.

I'm on board. It'll provide an interesting 'if I'd made slightly different life choices' contrast for Xiùlán. And of course family reunions are always awkward...

Mel will find the job distasteful, but will take so long as the girl is willing to go. Of course, her being unwilling to turn out to be an interesting complication to the adventure.

I like character tie-ins for a given episode. Mel and Veritas (and Maggie to a lesser extent) had the rancher tie in last episode. This time round I read the bit about Xiùlán's Mom being the temple's placement matron and it just seemed like a perfect fit for my initially vague "transport a person to a place' episode idea.

Thanks for the buy-in . . . and the willingness to face the awkward.

Yeah. I figured the whole companion thing might stick in Mel's craw a little bit.

By way of perspective, these quotes from Inara in the show act as a point of reference regarding age/consent, etc for companions.

"On Sihnon, we started training at twelve, years of discipline and preparation before the physical act of pleasure was even mentioned. Control was the first lesson, and the last."
"A companion chooses her own clients, that's guild law."

But for all that, while the companion-prospect to be transported will indeed be young, she is not a minor.

That would just be a hard no for me to play out on-screen, regardless of established canon.

Dec's mostly interested in getting this done without creating more problems.

Definitely up for continuing.

Sure, that sounds fine. You had Dec at 'therapeutic herbs.'

Shi,, written as 实, meaning 'real, honest'. But the students would usually write it as 石 among themselves, which means 'stone'.
