Some say we're no longer needed. That we may be replaced by cold rules, that what we considered a trade is nothing more then smoke and mirrors. That we are tyrants, only waiting to lash out at our players, lest we are kept in check. That we're not wizards of imagination, spinning the worlds for our dear players, but merely purveyors of cheap tricks.

Well, I for one, say no. GMing is easy, but it's also something you can never be too good at. To quote Zelda "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this." And I ask that instead of wasting time on needless squabbles, we create "this".

Inspired by awesomness of Secret Santicore, I ask that we, together, create something like that - a compilation of GM advice, sample adventures or dungeons that can be used with any mechanics, tables for random generation of Any Mad Idea That Crosses Your Mind, plot hooks, sample NPCs - anything. Then compile it all into a PDF that both a veteran GM as well as a newbie can grab, and use as source of inspiration.

Because no set of rules will ever replace the imagination of a good GM. Let's give that imagination a boost, shall we?

As the name suggests, I'd love for this to be released upon the Internet in March.

Send your material over to gamemasterpridemarch@gmail.com. The finished product will be of course released for free. Write to me if you'd like to help with editing* and/or illustrations perhaps.

PS. You don't need to be a "veteran" to write something for this! If you just have your favourite adventure, or perhaps a plot hook - send it. As long as you just feel like a GM.

Did someone somewhere actually say that in real life? Because I've never seen anything anywhere close.

I know a guy, but it's more of a joke then trying to score a cheap blow. Perhaps you'd be willing to throw something about writing anime - style storylines for non - anime mechanics, or something like that, given your interest in such? ;).

It's a little hyperbolic, but not by much. There's a strong anti-GM sub-current around here that flares up from time to time. Alot of talk around how players need to be "protected" from GMs is a perennial theme here.

And do not worry, no actual walking will be required.

Well, except for me, because I'm fat and could use a bit of exercise.

Usually with the them of wanting a "contract" protecting their PC's from harm or death.

Lords & Ladies.

I know that I am hardly a saint in such a matter - but if you want to throw punches, I'd rather ask that someone starts "Game Masters Pride March - commentary" thread.

I'd rather keep this one for people saying "Yeah, I'll toss in some stuff" or "Why bother?" or "This idea sucks", then turn this into some sort of a brawl.

As I said - an idea is rather to show why we (or at least I) believe that a GM is important, rather then just snipe at each other.
