I haven’t DM’d GURPS before, but I’m considering it. What kinds of GURPS sci-fi are folks thinking of? I was in a TL9 special ops game which gave me some insight as to how not to run one of those. I definitely have lots of ideas for de-suck-ifying UT guns. There are huge possibilities for customizing your gear to the type of mission.
I’m a big armored vehicle nerd so I would probably work those into the backdrop if not the foreground of a military game. Anyone like tanks enough to play the crew of a TL9 super tank?
I’m passingly familiar with OGRE. Not familiar with the other two. I’m thinking TL9, maybe 50% bigger than an Abrams, something like 90-100 tons. Some kind of high tech main gun, an auto cannon or two, some anti-air missiles. Enough weapons for everyone to have something to do.
Bolos are AI supertanks somewhat smaller than OGREs, but still mounting modified starship guns. Hammer's Slammers are a mercenary armoured regiment specialising in fusion powered air-cushion hovertanks with capacitor-fed energy weapons, and sounds like about the level of supertank you're picturing, plusminus technocal details. Also, if you like armoured vehicles and military scifi, I strongly recommend you read the Slammers books, you'll like them.
