Is there an MMO based on... Skill?

I'm just a little tired of collecting loot and leveling things. Is there a game where my skill at actually playing the game would be the biggest factor? Especially, say, something that's big on story and scenery?

What do you mean by skill? What do you see as the opposite of skill?
Items determining everything, or endless hours spent accumulating items. Leveling and grinding things for days on end to be effective doing other things.

If you're sick of that you might want to try a single-player game.

Or a beat 'em up/FPS, assuming you want to keep the chatting aspects... and have available friends.

Burnout Paradise's online multiplayer might qualify, possibly.
