For happening now, if only because I have Violet as a Claremont Alumni and a member of one of the Sentinel Franchises by this point. Plus Elastigail seems to assume modern era (I mean Voyd is working at a Starbucks. Plus there are references to Megamind and big Hero six).

the third of the great Toho giant monsters, and the second to be given the title role in their respective movie, Rodan has been a staple of the giant monster movie genre.

Roan's initial film is a simple one, with coal miners discovering that their mine is infested with giant, man eating grubs, only to discover to their greater horror that these grubs are merely the food of mighty Rodan, who frees themselves from underground captivity to terrorize the east Asian airspace, and joined soon afterwards by their mate, a second Rodan. realizing the beasts are unmatched in the air, the JSSDF ultimately attacks their nest on the ground, triggering a volcanic eruption to burn and bury both monsters. now, a fun fact regarding the ending. from what I can tell, the original plan was that both creatures would fly up one last time, only to crash back to earth, but the wires on one of the puppets snapped, leaving it on the ground, turning the scene into a tragic one, as the scene now read that the flying rodan would rather perish in flames alongside their mate than live in a world without them.

first introduced in 2005, Amadeus Cho, or "Mastermind Excello", as his initial one-off titled him, was an on-the-run super genius after a cryptic conspiracy tried to have him killed. from there, he reappeared during the World War Hulk crossover where he first teamed up with Hercules cuz reasons, before the two sprangboard into Hercules' own series and many, many adventures, including Cho taking over the title completely while Hercules seemingly had a particularly difficult (yet still errounous) case of Dead. after the series was cancelled, Amadeus vanished into the shallows of comics limbo, before being brought back for his own series "The Totally Awesome Hulk" where he gained the powers of ol' jade-jaws, after Bruce Banner met his own temporary case of dead during Civil War II crossover. however, with that series now cancelled and Amadeus getting another round of much needed humility, plus Banner coming back from the dead, Cho has lost much of his bulk/power in exchange for staying sane, and now answers to Brawn in the title where he's still appearing, Champions

the only daughter of King Leophron, Alexandra was unnaturally strong for her age, leading to suspicions that the blood of gods flowed in her veins rather than that of her father. but for all her power, Alexandra was a girl, deemed inferior by her father and brothers, and tasked to help her mother, Queen Harlena, look after her frail youngest brother, Loukas. Alexandra thus grew up knowing the values of mercy and compassion, which the rest of the world saw as weakness. And, to her delight, Queen Harlena recognized her daughter's potential, gifting her with the sword Dragonfang and warrior's training as she grew up.

Alexandra's relation with her brother changed again when Loukas, outraged by Leophron's latest insult, rode off on a solo hunt to prove himself, and she followed him in secret. But then he was ambushed by the Grylkin, the ancient enemies of the land, and before Alexandra could even draw her sword, Loucas saved himself using the forbidden arts of magic. Impressed, Alexandra revealed herself, and swore to keep his secret. And from then, the duo became an inseperable pair in their adventures.
It was many years later, when the Grylkin were massing a major force in preparation for an attack that Loukas found something more insidious through a divining spell. As Leophron led the armies off into an ambush, Loukas, with the help of Alexandra, broke into the royal trophy room and stole several items that could be used to stop the Grylkin plan.

Loukas and Alexandra were both successful, but Loukas was forced to reveal his magical skill. Unfortunatley, he was so successful that there was no evidence left of the ambush and to their father and other brothers, it looked like he was trying to usurp control of the world.

At the trial, Alexandra shocked everyone by announcing her active role in her brother's plan, denouncing the kingdom's stagnant barbarity, and demanded to share the fate of Loukas. But when this gamble failed, Harlena revealed the truth: that she taught him the magic, forcing Leophron to end the ban on magic or be forced to execute his wife. He lifted the ban, but ruled that Loukas and Alexandra would be exiled, banished to the very same alien realm from which the 'demon-child', Loukas, originally came

Alexandra's rage at this blatant betrayal of honor was so great that she doesn't remember what happened next, only that when she calmed down, she and Loukas were in the place of his boyhood dreams, a realm called 'Urth', and where the duo became part of the Avengers.

More recently, Alexandra has been awoken to her true heritage, that she is a second generation Centurion Machine, and how centuries ago, she was her worlds protector until she was struck down, slumbering for centuries aside from periodic use as a living weapon before Loukas set her free. this revelation came with the discovery that Alexandra is able to generate and safely wield destructive atomic fire, and a sense that her ancient enemies are not as gone as she'd like

one of the canadian superheroes in Champions, after David Burrell's back was broken in a mountain climbing accident, he was kidnapped by his father, so was so determined to "fix" his son that he paid the supervillain Cyberlord to turn david into a cyborg. Luckily, with these new abilities, David was able to escape, defeat Cyberlord, and go on to become one of Canada's greatest heroes.

unfortunately, a major defect to Justiciar's cryo-cybernetic physiology is that he's forced into periodic hibernation states, ranging from weeks to months, or in one particular case, years at a time
