My wife and I started a rewatch of the series in January in preparation for Endgame. This weekend we got through Ant-Man and Civil War. I honestly enjoy all of the films. The Phase 1 films are sometimes rough compared to the later movies where the Marvel style is more established but impressive for the scope of their ambition.

Guardians Vol. 1, Captain Marvel and Winter Soldier are at the top of my list. I'd put Hulk and Dark World at the bottom, but their only real crimes are being a bit dull in parts. Both are enjoyable and I have watched them multiple times.

I'm not sure I'll manage to do a rewatch before Endgame...hell, I'm just hoping to see Captain Marvel in time, but I wanted to try the quiz, so here I am.

  • Black Panther
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Ant-Man
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • The Avengers
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Doctor Strange
  • Iron Man
  • Thor
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Iron Man 2
  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Iron Man 3
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
It seems about right. I could probably move the top few around depending on my mood, and I think I'd probably put IW above Dark World in real life, and maybe Age of Ultron, depending on my mood, but otherwise it's pretty spot on.

Here are my results. As I said the last time I did something like this, Marvel has never made an outright "bad" film, so my list goes from "Best" to "Still Pretty Damn Good"!

  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Iron Man
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • The Avengers
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Doctor Strange
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Thor
  • Black Panther
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Ant-Man
  • Captain Marvel
  • Iron Man 2
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor: The Dark World
  • The Incredible Hulk

My poll results:
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Black Panther
  • The Avengers
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Captain Marvel
  • Doctor Strange
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Iron Man
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Iron Man 2
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Thor
  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Ant-Man
  • Iron Man 3
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Thor: The Dark World

That ends up being very close to the list I did when I was discussing movie ratings with a buddy:

Tier 1
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Black Panther
  • Infinity War
  • Avengers
  • Captain Marvel
Tier 2
  • Civil War
  • Doctor Strange / Iron Man
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2
  • Spider-Man Homecoming
  • Avengers Age of Ultron
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Ant Man and Wasp
  • Ant Man
  • Iron Man 2
Tier 3
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008)
  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Thor: Dark World
Movies within a tier are all really really close. Contrary to a lot of people (I guess), I really like the humor in Ragnarok. I'm also not a comic book guy, so I watch these without any preconceived notions of who the characters are supposed to be. Things that probably bother serious fans just don't bother me.

Heh, I'm in literally watching Ant-Man for my rewatch right now. (And saw Captain Marvel yesterday.) I'm going to adjust the list from the quiz a bit, because "want to see right now" isn't quite the same as "general personal favorite ranking" which is how I'd rather do it:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. The Avengers
3. Thor: Ragnarok
4. Black Panther
5. Captain America: Winter Soldier
6. Captain America: the First Avenger
7. Thor
8. Iron Man
9. Doctor Strange (this one's really grown on me over time!)
10. Spiderman: Homecoming
11. Iron Man 3
12. Captain Marvel (maybe? Again, I just saw this, so it'd take at least another viewing to solidify its position.)
13. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
14. Ant-Man and the Wasp
15. Captain America: Civil War (great movie, but I don't find it all that enjoyable to rewatch much)
16. Avengers: Infinity War
17. Avengers: Age of Ultron
18. Thor: the Dark World
19. Iron Man 2
20. The Incredible Hulk
21. Ant-Man

What the heck, everyone else is doing it...

I've just divided them into four groups here (five counting "haven't seen"), and haven't made any attempt to rank them within each group (just listed in chronological order).

Superb:
Iron Man
Avengers
Winter Soldier
Thor Ragnarok
Black Panther

Good but not quite great:
Iron Man 2
Captain America
Guardians of the Galaxy
Spider-Man Homecoming

Flawed but still fun:
Thor
Iron Man 3
Civil War

Meh:
Dark World
Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Doctor Strange
Infinity War

Haven't seen:
Incredible Hulk
Guardians 2
Ant-Man and Wasp
Captain Marvel

Yeah, my ranking on the quiz (which I didn't save and don't have time to re-do at the moment) was based entirely on which movies I wanted to rewatch most at the moment. Since in the past two weekends I've binged my way up through Doctor Strange in chronological order, that might have influenced it. Captain Marvel was at the top, followed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Despite Thor: Ragnarok being in what I consider the slightly less good tier of Marvel films, it was in the upper half because it is just fun to watch even if I think it's too jokey and doesn't treat some of its characters very well at all. But when I want to put a Marvel film on and just enjoy the spectacle, it's one of the best ones for that. The Incredible Hulk was at the bottom, which is probably fair but also a function of the only returning character from that film being John Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross, and that not until Captain America: Civil War.

I mean, seriously, I know we're not getting another Hulk film for reasons, but would it kill them to bring back Betty for a scene or two sometime?
