29) Prelude: There is some chatter about a new kind of atomic weapon. Transfusion is the word being thrown around in the scientific journals. It is using fission to create fusion. The energy applications are limited, but weapon's applications - if you specifically spin it that way - could be horrific.

Your Mission is to monitor a physicist and his team. You are to secure copies of their notes on a regular basis. You are to make sure they do not pass information on to foreign intelligence agents (or anyone else really). If it appears that they have made the weapons breakthrough, you need to bring them all in and/or ensure that the information will never find the light of day by any means.

Eventually your team will be pulled off this and it given to someone else... or you will be distracted by chasing an enemy agent... and eventually stop the monitoring.

30) A mission or three later: A spy who often works with the team is asked to trace plutonium stolen by a Chinese terror group. He encounters an old flame who he thought was dead. She is as surprised to see him as he is her and tries to rekindle their relationship. She of course is working for the terrorists. They have to choose between their love and their conflicting missions, whilst trying to secure a horrifying super-weapon.

Your job, take your friend and his love out of the equation by any means neccisary, secure the new weapon, and trace the Chinese terror group (who may or may not be working for Chinese Intelligence).

Oh and a great list of Intelligence Agency Slogans

31) A ghostwriter hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister (or insert some highly place, very important political figure) uncovers secrets that are best kept quiet. They are not in his book, but probably in the notes. Someone is trying to kill him, there were subtle and tricky at first (and he was insanely lucky), but they are heading towards straight black bag and bullets to the head. Your job is to retrieve the secrets in his notes and bring the ghostwriter in for debriefing. However those black op folks are doing to take offense to your interference and you are going to be a target too.

Note: It is hard to determine if these are our side's black ops people or someone elses. If they are someone else's what is going on? How are they involved when their state secrets should not be involved. (Or are they on loan?)

32) A rogue security agent is planning on killing a top tier politico because of some personal reason. The Agent had to kill one or two security agents who stumbled over his plans. Now he has to cover up those killings. IN the process of doing that, he has made some mistakes. His plan is still on to kill the politico when they show in the embassy.

Your team is assigned to find out who killed those one or two agents and watch the embassy as there is a high profile visitor coming. (It may be the politico or it may be someone more important, but the politico is part of the entourage and guests with them.)

The rogue may be inside supposedly "helping you". If you get too close, he will have to kill you too. He will try to do it at a distance to avoid you realizing it is him. But eventually, he will have to do it up close and personal.

Hopefully you can stop him from killing you and the target.

33) A disavowed agent (or he quit... depends on whom you get your intel from) is leading a rag tag team of international volunteers (or paid cut out agents, again depending who you get your intel from), to assassinate a cell of Al'nada (insert name or terror group) the five terrorist that planned a bombing in a public place in his country that killed a number of innocents including children.

These people should be an interpol problem, but they become your team's issue as your country is inserting an agent into the larger terror network through this cell (that has been on the run since the explosions). You need to keep this cell alive until your agent gets in and starts advancing in the organization. (Give him six months, then you can kill these guys to your heart content.)

This becomes a chess game going on around the terror cell, without the cell really knowing it is going on.

34) Your team is tapped to covertly help when a Washington big wig's brat daughter is abducted while studying at Harvard. The team will quickly realizes the protection detail's prime suspect, her boyfriend Michael Blake, is innocent and dumped her for being a drug-addicted slut. (She is not the "good girl" the mission briefing stated. She is a serious drug user and often utilizes her charms to get men to buy her things. Perhaps she takes it a step more. Following her haunts and habits, the team can track her down to a special house. It is a bordello. Several other girls are missing. There is a dark/ black market who "recruited" her for the Middle Eastern white slavery market. Your team will be a few steps ahead of the conventional forces. The black marketters are likely to dispose of her rather than confront all these law enforcement groups that were brought in by her father.

You are to quietly bring her in. However, there seems to be forces to in play that are interfering. The media is supressed at the moment, but they are closer to the truth than many of the investigation teams. There are other players in the field trying to either retreive her or cut off the investigtion (by killing those involved). Perhaps someone political is trying to gain an advantage by letting this out of the bag, even if it costs the girl her life.

35) An Agency audio surveillance expert was assigned to record two witnesses talking with each other in Union Square (or other busy public place that can be noisy). It was a scheduled meet of some kind. After that event, he begins to act erratic. (More erratic than normal anyways, as he is a personal security fanatic.) He did not turn his data over to the agency. In fact, he is defying an actual order to do so. He has been seen in the vicinity of one of the two witnesses by another agent monitoring them.

Earl, the technician, has recently been having pangs of guilt over the fact that some of his recordings have led to the termination of several targets. Something they said might of led him to believe that they will be killed for what they know.. hence creating this behavioral spiral.

Your job is to get the data from Earl and bring him in for debriefing and possibly psych evaluation.

As you begin Earl is starting by shooting at agents when he monitoring the witnesses. He will set up bombs and other things (as well as spiking the signal of any monitoring/ recording device.

Those witnesses will be key in putting away some organized crime figures that are central in a drug and human trafficking arrangement. They will be testifying in two months or so, then put into witness protection.

Just so that you know, MoonHunter, your continued contributions to story hooks threads are really fantastic.
Thank you. I try. The hard part of this is trying to find inspiration for them. This is not a genre I have played in the last few decades (and my espionage game way back then spilled into a paranormal investigation sooo.) I have been trolling spy sites (real and movie) looking for good ideas.

36) Your team has been tasked for a computer hardware insertion. The system, once installed into a data center, will produce various data attacks that would target several extremist terrorists groups and several of their supporters. (Targetting various various bankings, communications systems, and support data systems.) This item can not be place in just any data system. It needs a level of complexity and interconnectedness that only a few centers in the world can do.

And when the attacks are traced back, the cyber war attacks could easily create a public opinion "shit storm".

Thus your team has to escort the squint (expert) into a heavily fortified data center. Your choices are 1) A Chinese military center, 2) A core banking hub in the United Arab Emirates (in Dubai or Abu Dhabi), or 3) a Dark Internet server center in a military base in Slovakia. You must penetrate without detection. You must spend the hour or two that it will take to insert the code boxes to hijack their systems without detection. You must leave and exit the territory without raising suspision.

This won't be as easy, as the expert squint, has a notorious history of hacking government sights and "releasing secrets... as information wants to be free". In the right circles, which include the cyber security people, he is a rock star. In the eyes of political operatives of certain "repressed states" he is a danger to public safety and an embarassment. Yes, he believes in your cause (at least this month). This automated attack bomb will crippled "the bad guys". However, many governments are less than happy and less than forgiving of his past events. Getting him to the location without freaking out the local computer community may be the biggest challange of the mission.

Okay..
36b) Your squint is using the backdoor he installed in the box (which has yet to be discovered) to do other activities. Sure he has amplified and fine tuned his attacks against the target remotely. However, he is risking the box and his own freedom by using the box and its position to crack other government and military and some banking systems and release their secrets to the world.

You have to find him and stop him OR you have to take out the box... which means breaking back into the locations which you barely succeeded at last time. Oh and eliminating a potent cyberweapon on your side.

Of course there will be enemy agents finally locating him. So you may have to save his scrawny ass. He will make the box removal easier too.

37) Industrial Espionage performed in Canada against Williams Mining and Refining (which is sometimes used as a cover for the Canadian Intelligence unit) might lead to some complications. The theft was not just about alloy and production, it includes mining locations, refining sites and labs, and shipments to and from various sites. Anyone looking into the data might find a joint US/Canadian Top Secret Project.. (which will have an unusual influx of high tech equipment and other strange requisitions).

Your mission will be to find the industrial spy, secure the data. If they have sold the data, you are to find out to whom and secure the data, quarantining anyone who might of found the data.

The spy is actually two spies that work for competing firms. Each one wanted parts of the data. They are meeting their contact in Buffalo NY in the middle of winter. The two operatives are formerly romantically linked and are fairly good at trade craft... so they are going to be tough.

When both their the contacts ends up being the same Eastern European Contractor... your team will have even more complications.

Project Blue Turtle (25) is what I had in mind, but insert a joint top secret project that the US and Canadian governments would agree to share. https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?772456-101-Secret-government-projects/page2
