[Overwatch Thread the 5th] Have you seen some of the things Talon wears?

Normally I'm not one to assume my opponent is smurfing, but when a gold console Mercy with no border spends the entire match superjumping and headshotting everyone from midair with her pistol, it becomes pretty damn obvious whats going on.
Yeah, that's when I note the player's tag and just nope out.

Heh, was queuing for a game.

I just lost a close Gibraltar attack match by about 10 meters on C - I was Orisa backed by a good Mercy and Baptiste, an okay McCree and of course Widow/Hanzo.

So I was on point with good heals... and I'm all alone pushing until my healers died. I hinted nicely "need some more dps" and "need help on payload" but of course I was all alone with 5 seconds to go, rushing to the payload and dying 4 to 1. I ended up with gold objective kills and 6:07 gold objective time.

Did Widow/Hanzo even log 6 seconds of objective time? Did I even see them? I think I was outnumbered 4-5 to 3 on payload every time.

The Hanzo launched a good Dragon Arrow to clinch B in overtime, so he was on the ball at least once.

Do Widow players even SEE the payload? (at least the players on my teams, not the Widows on the other team that kill you in a blink of an eye)

Sorry for ranting. :D

EDIT - I was so annoyed that I watched the replay. My assessment was pretty correct.

I was consistently outnumbered by DPS on the payload at least 5 to 4 versus Hog, McCree, 76, Pharah and Moira versus Orisa/Baptiste/Mercy/McCree.

My teammates didn't try to touch the payload when I was respawning - not even to edge closer to it hoping to move it forward even one tick.

Hanzo and Widow were ducking out miles behind, maybe they got 8 or 9 elims each but not anywhere close to the payload. At least the Widow tried to suppress the enemy Pharah...?

My self-assessment was I was okay, I stayed alive as much as I could. I blocked / took / had healed buckets of damage.

The replay is a good tool, if you know what you want to see.

There have been a few times where replays have given me the comfort of knowing I was right. Your game certainly sounds like one of those. There have also been times when its revealed DPS teammates being awesome and taught me to be more open to the possibility that they know what they’re doing. I recall one game where my Lucio was in a prolonged fight on point backing up our only tank. I knew we had a McCree (later on Soldier) keeping an enemy Pharah in check. I had no idea our Genji was going 1 vs 2 against an enemy Tracer and Sombra and keeping himself alive by controlling the heal pack (I didn’t say it was a good enemy Sombra).

Between the replay system, the LFG tool, endorsements, my decision to specialise in the support role plus the greater range of support heroes since I had last played, I have been pretty much enjoying my casual player return to Overwatch. Really looking forward to the roll out of 2-2-2 to PS4 as the next step.

The time of Mad Max is coming to an end. Soon society and civilization comes to Overwatch.

Discussions of the bunker meta are heating up. Talks of why Pharah and Reaper are strong in the league but not the ladder abound. The debate of the oppressive nature of highly skilled Widow mains isn't dying down anytime soon.

Some highlights to pass the time...

You are correct madam. So it's not in quickplay yet. It'll be two weeks of this beta comp 2-2-2, and then it'll hit quickplay and we'll get the first official comp season on Sept. 1.

Just did a few matches with a friend as a 2-stack. I highly recommend this. If you queue for the same role you can ensure that you coordinate and cover the essentials. So if you queue for tank you can make sure that one of you is on a comfortable barrier tank (as opposed to getting something like Sigma/Hog), if you need to contest a Pharah or Widow or whatever and you are queuing as DPS you can make sure one of you hops onto ranged hitscan. You always have someone prioritizing main heals, etc.

I played DPS for the first time in Comp in I don't know how long, and the glorious bit was that I popped off because I was in an appropriate match for my DPS proficiency. And every time we queued, we just queued for whichever role earned us a loot box or CP. It really is quite amazing.

ETA: Also, Sigma is incredibly complex to play and very few people understand him at this point. If you aren't filling the tank slots, you can be fairly sure that one of your Tank players will be poorly playing Sigma. This isn't quite as bad as it might seem, however, since the enemy team will also have a poorly played Sigma.

Patch is live, but QP is bugged in that it locks the roles without having the role queue in place. So it's first come, first served 2/2/2 in QP right now :p
