Keen looks both displeased and intrigued.

"We are going to be busy."

It's easy to be deadpan about these things with enough experience.

"Cogwheel, I suggest you bring a weapon if you can use any."
Brass blinks in an odd cadence. "The Omnisiah and Empress will provide."

"Ugh, I don't envy you going out in this," Sapphire Sunlight mutters as she stares outside. "It never stops raining in Hollow Shade. While it's just a strange localization of the region's weather, the city's citizens claim it to be the "tears of the Empress constantly falling". I rather doubt that, but the circumstances are both unknowable and currently unstoppable. The ponies here are known to be dour, depressive, sad types - no wonder with all this."
"Awwww, that's sad. The Empress would want them all to be happy!" Radiant replies. She busies herself preparing for the trip - which basically means Mr. Belchy is adequately secured, maintained, and most importantly fully fueled.

Disembarking the Inquisitorial shuttle, the hooves of the acoltytes splash into knee-deep puddles of brackish water, constantly being drained off by millions of tiny holes in the metallic ground to prevent further flooding. The skies are an endless array of bleak black and grey clouds continually pouring rain onto the massive city, and a sharp eye can spot that all of Hollow Shade's architecture has been built to accommodate, siphon, and maneuver off the incessantly falling water. No doubt this is where 98% of the planet gets its purified fluid supplies from, pumped through titanic pipes to all manner of transportation zones.

Slogging through such an environment is wet and heavy work however, and by the time the ponies manage to reach a nearby place where others appear to gather, they are soaked to the bone and quite tired already. Taking shelter under a tented pavilion crafted from fine plastek, they find the few locals already present immensely and intensely joyous to see them, passing out special raingear specialized to the local weather conditions, including strange bubble umbrellas and hooded full-body cloaks made of the same grey plastek as the tent.

Keen takes the local gear with care, but does not - immediately - do anything with it.

OOC: Keen is trying to get a sense of if these ponies look like the creepily happy ponies in Harmonix.

http://orokos.com/roll/718338 4dF+2= A resounding 1 to Cleverly overcome obstacles!

"Hiya!" Radiant Torch greets the ponies, because of course she does. "That's some impressive weather you're having!"

These ponies look far worse off than the ones in Harmonix - their smiles practically (and painfully) stretch past their cheeks, exposing rows of flat teeth with tiny sharp edges. She could swear just by looking at one of them she can hear their heartbeat going through the roof. Nothing seems wrong about the items given however.

"Hiya!" Radiant Torch greets the ponies, because of course she does. "That's some impressive weather you're having!"
"HI," they both almost shout simultaneously, "ISN'T IT? HOW GLORIOUS!" Are they shaking? Radiant can't be sure but she would swear the ponies were just quivering in place, like they were hyped up on way too much sugar.

Keen Study is neither comforted nor surprised.

"We heard that the ponies of Hollow Shade were a somber and sorrowful lot. Yet you are filled with such Joy and friendliness even to strangers.

"Surely the Empress will take notice of such a thing."

Perhaps these ponies are merely fools, perhaps their folly has lead them further astray.

But the acoltytes will need to keep their eyes open to answer that one.

"Sadness is unacceptable when we could be praising the wonders of all things around us gifted by the Empress!" One of them declares, his teeth tapping together almost frantically as he struggles to keep his jaw shut and still. It's not really working.

"Yes. Yes! YES! Such things are great and wonderful and sunshine and rainbows and spring showers! No time to be filled with sorrow and despair when everything is happy!" The mare next to him agrees, her legs locked and quivering from the strain of not moving.

"If you're having trouble not breaking out into a song and dance, you don't have to hold back on our account!" Raidiant Torch replies cheerfully. She's maybe not the best choice for interrogating these ponies. "Any sights to see while we're visiting the area?"

"G-G-Go see the m-m-m-main cathedral!" The stallion exclaims suddenly at the question. "It's a w-w-wonderful place honoring the G-G-G-God-Empress!"
