Sell me on Amazing Adventures

OK I'm not asking anyone to persuade me to buy the book as I already have it and am looking at my pile of unread books for the next thing to look at and possibly run.

I'm thinking of a pulp acton game and this is one of a few from that genre I own but unlike some of the others not read yet.

So sell me on the good and bad points for the game so I can decide whether to sit down with it and give it a go or to grab one of the other books, (two fisted Tales, spirit of the century etc) that I have read

Cheers

I am in the exact same boat.
Well, except I already read Two Fisted Tales. It's a great game!

Hey, guys, sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'm not on RPGNet as often as I once was.

I'm the author of AA and am glad to answer any questions you may have. We just completed last summer, a kickstarter for the second printing (revised, expanded and hardcover) and raised (with the backer kit included) well over $21,000. We are releasing very soon a monster book, mini-campaign and companion sourcebook which will GREATLY expand the game's options. It's a toolkit game that is designed as a pulp-modern rules set able to handle any kind of pulp gaming you like from The Shadow to Doc Savage to swashbuckling musketeers and pirates to El Borak to Lovecraftian horror.

During the KS I wrote the following for Bleeding Cool: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/08/30/unleash-a-madcap-pulp-world-with-the-amazing-adventures-rpg-kickstarter/

I'm hoping that will help to sell you on the game.

Tim Burns of TLG and I did an RPGNet chat about it as well: https://gmshoe.wordpress.com/2014/09/22/qa-jason-vey-tim-burns-amazing-adventures/

I can also be reached on our facebook page for the game: https://www.facebook.com/amazingadventuresrpg

If you have ANY questions at all, don't hesitate to give us a shout.

So does that mean my softcover book that I just got isn't the 2nd edition? Crap.

Well there is no second edition, really. It's just a hardcover second printing. We revised it a little bit, mostly just adding errata and cleaning some stuff up, and expanded it with a new Rogue's Gallery and a section on Secret Societies. Your first printing is still 100% usable and compatible with everything moving forward. Really there aren't even enough changes to the game to call it a .5 version--it's honestly just errata and cleanups.
