SAN: POW (9)x5=45

OOC: So, I've never played before, and I'm not sure how to go about shaping the character into what I was thinking about. Is it better to to develop a character concept from what I've rolled up, or can I jigger around the numbers to fit an educated professorial type?
An Int of 15 and Edu of 17 gives you an academic type. University degree. You can get an age bonus too, cant remember off hand when it starts from, but it gives you +1 edu for every ten years over a certain age.

Gertrude Bradley, Dilettante, Dada-ist Actress

After a whole lotta rolls:

STR 13, CON 13, POW 9, DEX 10, APP 9, SIZ 14, INT 9, EDU 11, income 9

SAN 45, Idea 45, Luck 45, Know 55; Damage bonus +1D4; HP 14; MP 9

Occupational Skill Points: 220:
Art (Acting) +50
Art (Dancing) +50
Art (Singing) +50
Credit Rating +70

Misc Skill Points: 90:
Other Language: French: +50
Fast Talk: +40

(other skill defaults, etc, to follow)

Background:

It's a good thing Gertrude was born into money, because she's not really much of an actress, dancer, or singer. Competent enough in her own way, but she'll never be a star. She's big enough, in a handsome sort of way, to be able to fill in to the occasional male role.

She got involved with the post-Modern crowd in Paris for a few years, but has recently come back home to New England. She's performing here and there, drinking bootleg gin here and there, and trying to escape horrible, haunting nightmares.

IIRC, after age 50 you also have to deduct a point from either STR, APP, CON, or DEX for every ten years, though. Using APP as your dump stat for your educated geezer is very true to the source material!

Actually after some thought it seems silly to have two socialite types with similar skills and as the gm mentioned boating I will make a retired Salty sea dog. Ex Navy Coast guard.

For purposes of this game, you can re-order your state rolls to fit your concept (this is a bit looser than the standard rule, where you're stuck with your rolls in order). Though, for an educated professional, I'd probably leave that 17 in EDU because it's worth a ton of professional skill points. Also, for an educated type, that 15 is going to do you more good in POW or INT than it is in SIZ.

More on his background: Wink's father is a local politician who pulled a few strings when Wink signed up, and got him a job behind the trenches driving a general around. Not one of the famous generals, and he got shot at and shelled more than you'd think, but he came through unscathed, except for a touch of jumpiness and a haunting feeling that his best days are behind him at the age of 28. Unfit for any respectable profession, he got his PI license, mostly in order to do dirty business and what later generations would call opposition research on behalf of his dad, who made a bundle off the War. He'd jump at the chance to investigate something more interesting than a philandering alderman.

Idea behind the character: somebody tough to balance out the haunted dilettantes and weedy professor types, but with an interesting background to give him something to talk about with them. If the bit about the corrupt politician father is over the top, I can take it out, it just sounded cool to me.

Wink's stats:
Wink looks great, and I think has the highest Bargain that I've ever seen on an actual character. Can you post the link to your stat rolls? I don't disbelieve them (they look fairly reasonable), but I want to stay consistent with asking for them.

Looks great. For purposes of this game, it's fine with me if you want to collapse your Art skills a bit (e.g., Art (Stage Musical Actress), or the like) and spread your skill points around a little. I really appreciate folks taking lesser-used skills and want to encourage it, but simultaneously don't want you to feel under-competent later on because of your investment in them.

Actually after some thought it seems silly to have two socialite types with similar skills and as the gm mentioned boating I will make a retired Salty sea dog. Ex Navy Coast guard.
Sure, that's fine. i was hoping to see Edna, though![/QUOTE]

A good spread of skills is probably handier and you lot all have two pcs in the other game, so I will make up my old geezer and decide who to play once all the other characters are made.

I'm presuming R RuneMagus will be playing his pilot. Can my Sea dog be connected to him? Perhaps his Uncle, married to Scott's Dad's sister?

Edit:adding rolls
http://orokos.com/roll/742971: 3d6 14 3d6 10 3d6 10 3d6 7 3d6 15

http://orokos.com/roll/742973: 2d6+6 12 2d6+6 12

http://orokos.com/roll/742974: 2d6+6 13

I'm tempted to have dex 7 and a peg leg :D

So he starts off at 19yrs, so I will go up to 59, for an extra +4 edu and - 1 Str and -1 dex. Might go to 65, not sure yet.
Retired Chief Petty officer in the Coast Guard. Perhaps a charter boat captain, if that fits.
Better roll to see if he has any cash.
Cash: 1d10 9
Loaded then, must be smuggling booze in his boat.

Gm will having a boat scupper any plans? Its not important to me at all.

Edit. Rolled 2d6+6 for edu, so rolled again, this time 3d6+3.
Edu: 3d6+3 12

So a new age of 65 which gives and edu of 17 and - 3 from str/con/dex.

340 skill points.
120 hobby points.

Great. We have enough players to get started, so I'll get working on the game wiki later today and let you all know when it's ready.

Your Sea Dog background and stats look fine. It will not mess the game up at all if you have a boat - it'll just cut out the necessity of renting one if you decide to go out on the water.

It's certainly good with me if your character and R RuneMagus 's know one another.
