From a post on May 6th, 2021 unironically titled "What's Up with Shadowrun" comes this:

Anarchy 2050: Do you love Shadowrun: Anarchy? Do you want to play classic Shadowrun plotlines from the early era of the game with these streamlined rules? Then Anarchy 2050 is for you! This book will offer all you need to play Anarchy in the era of the wired Matrix, huge cyberdecks, and all the scuzzy neon you could ask for.

"This book offers all you need to play Anarchy in the era". That could mean it's a complete game nothing else needed or that it is all you need in addition to the Anarchy rule book. I mean if the book listed cyberwar and magic as amps then it would be worth getting regardless of what that term means. Russell...

(1) All I did for this one was the intro fic (but I heccin' love it), but some really good buddies of mine were involved in all the crunchy parts.

(2) "Soon" is the only estimate I've been given, and the only estimate I've been allowed to pass on. It's been "soon" for...kind of a while. I genuinely don't know what the hold-up is, but I gave up trying to figure out RPGs and their publishing schedules a long time ago. This is "soon," some really cool fiction stuff of mine is "soon," everything is "soon." XD

Excited for this. I have heard that it might be a better explained version of the rules, in which case it will be worth buying the rules again just for that.

I hope so. I was really disappointed with the quality of the first version of Anarchy - so much so that we’ve never played it.

I played the original and it was fine. Especially with the input from surprise threat. But I would gladly welcome a cleaner version of a core book

I think at this point I've been waiting for this book to drop for...a long time. Long enough that maybe it's over a year? I know that I was waiting for it to release before Covid hit, at least.

Same with me. I also love that era, but I'd buy it for the rules alone if it's halfway better organized.

I have high hopes for this one. I really wanted to like its first release, but it just felt unfinished somehow. Like you needed to know how the full shadowrun rules worked so you could mentally plug the gaps. But there is a massive backlog of adventures and stuff for SR that look like they will be fun to play with a lighter system.

Did anybody manage to run it without massive houseruling? Or without porting back in rules from the full SR rules?

The combat system as written just seemed to make every character a glass cannon. Whoever could shoot first would win. I assume that was because they removed soak and drain rolls but didn't rebalance the rest of the system to compensate. (Oh and spellcasters were way, way, way better then gun users.) Its been a few years now since we played it so I could be wrong about this. Did anybody else experiance that?

I’m interested! I have fond memories of creating characters for SR 2E games. I purchased many supplements and novels for SR back in the day.
