OOC: How about Brian for the bootleggers on the criminal aspect, and how about Summers on Von Deman?
OOC: Brian recognises the gangsters if he makes a knowledge roll, and Summers certainly remembers Von Deman. Brian could know Jerry the demolition guy too.

Thibodeau

The party is still going strong and through the smoke those watching see that the door to the Speakeasy opens. Three men are ushered in by the bouncer, dressed in good quality suits tailored in the latest style.

Edna stiffens at the sight of them and after excusing herself gets up and joins them for a short discussion before leading them in to her office behind the bar.

Scott recognises them as men working for Danny O'Bannion, the gangster responsible for most of the crime in the city, including bootlegging.

OOC: If Thibodeau makes a Knowledge roll he recognises them too.
OOC: Knowledge roll: 21 is a success.

"Well that's not exactly a surprise, but it is interesting." Thibodeau says to no one in particular. "I'd hate to crash our hostess's party, but maybe we should make sure that she isn't in any distress."

Kimball looks up at Thibodeau's words, and he shoves the remaining bullets into his knapsack, save for a handful. The gun he quickly loads and sticks into his pocket. "Watch my gear?" he says to Jimmy Leigh, then stands to follow Thibodeau.

Thibodeau and Kimball approach the busy bar which is nearly two deep with thirsty folk, being served by Edwin O'Malley. The hatch in the bar is free though, except for Aengus, the other bartender, who is coming though to clear some of the tables of empties.

"Out the way gents!" he calls in a thick Irish brogue. Seeing who it is he adds "Boss is busy in the office, youse'll have to wait."

Scott stays seated and speaks to Jimmy "Ones we faced were long dead Indians. Jumped down of off those platforms they put their dead on."

"Blast from a shotgun or a solid blow out then down for good, crumpled to bones and dust."

"Sounds like yours were worse."

OOC: Back now, Starting to catch up. :)

Summers kept the corner of his eye on his two young men, Thibodeau and Kimball, but stood close as Scott and Jimmy talked quietly. It was...Intelligence. One never knew if it would come to bear fruit or not.

Those concerned about Edna's meeting with the gangsters are relieved to find out that it was nothing more than a chat about receiving a new shipment of hooch and after a slightly terse exchange of stares the three men leave the Speakeasy and the party continues. Before departing himself, Jimmy compared notes with Scott on killing undead and promised to keep in touch.

It was nearly dawn when the last revellers left...

Four days later.

9pm Saturday 28th March 1925

The Golden Bough.

All pcs present. Edna is away and Edwin O'Malley is behind the bar.

It's surprisingly quiet tonight, though it is still early. The investigators have the place to themselves and are sitting at the bar, drinking and discussing what has been going on.

There are piles of notes, especially in front of the bookshop owner Desmond Abernathy.

OOC: did Scott stay in hospital? I will have Desmond relay what he has discovered when you all chime in.
There are some dice rolls needed over in the ooc thread.

OOC: decided to post to keep the game moving.

At the end of the bar Desmond runs a slightly shaking hand through his hair before coughing to get everyone's attention. By all accounts the last two weeks have been a harrowing time for the book shop owner.

"I would not advise anyone to read that book" he says with a shudder. "I've found what you were looking for and have written it down for you all."

Each investigator gets a typed sheet with the following written on it

Yig excerpts from the Necronomicon

Yig coupled with those great enough to challenge him and tore from them the eggs that grew in their bellies. He ordered that his followers build nests of the earth, like Yig coiled and ready, where Yig might descend and set himself upon the earth, and leave these eggs, and so the nests became holy, while the stars did churn . . . .

As they hatch, one by one the spawn seek the seams of the earth, where they feed on unmentionable things, and grow huge and blasphemous, one day to return to the light, to the terror of all men ....

Statues were made with jade eyes for the god too see in to this world and the priests did guard them with their lives, for they were blessed by Yig and might not comfort his enemies ....

In warm Chaldee an egg was destroyed by the light of the sun and a wordless chant.

The chant was to sound as follows: (Here are written musical notes for the chant)

By these and the power of the sun, could be destroyed the spawn.

"So it seems that for the spawn to be destroyed the chant must be intoned under sun light" adds Desmond.

OOC: Desmond lost 2d10 san and gained Cthulhu mythos 16%. He also learned the spell: Elder sign.

Everyone one else gets +1% Cthulhu mythos.

Each investigator will need to make a know roll to understand the music notation and remember it.

Thibodeau

OOC: Know: 27/65 succeeds.

"You've done excellent work here, Desmond," Thibodeau says. He motions for the bartender to bring over another drink for Desmond.

"So, shall we head out to the mound at first light? Have done with this?"
