In another forum, I'm about to start a PBP game set in a vaguely Conan-esque setting.

The twist is that it's really a prehistoric Hellboy game (the priestess who hires the characters to explore the lost city is trying to revive one of the Ogdru Jahad - ancient, malevolent and vastly powerful entities, for those not familiar with Hellboy), but for the purposes of this thread, it could just as well be a lost Lemurian or Atlantean city straight out of Robert E. Howard's works. So... what can our fearless adventurers find in this ancient city?

1 - a giant egg covered in gold and painted with prehuman symbols
2 - a stone tablet carved with ancient runes that shift strangely
3 - a sword forged from orichalcum and quenched in the blood of dragons
4 - a brood of white spiders grown giant from drinking the weird waters of the ancient sewers
5 - a statue of the Golden King that whispers dark secrets n a forgotten language

A mosaic floor showing the crowning of a Queen. Unfamiliar inhuman creatures are present in places of honor.

8 - an arched doorway eighteen feet high. Slivers of wood and a few heavy nails on the floor around it were once the door. Search long enough and you'll find a decent-sized piece with huge clawlike gouges in it.

9 - a garden of corpse-white roses with poisonous thorns
10 - a bottomless pool of black marble
11 - a twisted, lumpy human (?) skull as tall as a man
12 - a high wall full of niches, and in each niche, a diamond containing an amorphous shadow
13 - an enormous statue with a red right hand

::cough::
13 for real - a white snake as long and thick as an oak tree

15. Two sisters who vie for rulership of the city. Who will the characters support, and what could be the consequences of failure?

16. A giant white ape. Could it be the creature that broke down the door in 8?

17. A series of bas-relief carvings that depict some key events in the life of the city. A scholar might glean some clues about the history and religion of the inhabitants that will be surprisingly useful when navigating the tombs and temples.
18. A magnificant statue, clearly of some great ruler or prophet. Curiously, the face of the statue has been chiseled off.
19. A large hall, perhaps a temple, whose ceiling has long since caved in. The many nooks in the walls have made it an ideal roost for a colony of rather sinister birds.
