I am told Hearts of Darkness Theme Force has been removed from the CID. Its a "hypothetical"/"what if" thematic theme force for Crucible, Cygnar, or Khador armies. They are basically corrupted forces that went over to the Infernals. I suppose Protectorate, Convergence, and Retribution are too divinely focused or inhuman...
They are pushing back the Hearts of Darkness testing until the Oblivion CID since, apparently, it was designed with elements from Oblivion in mind and they want to test the "core" Dark Legacy infernal theme more this CID

Yeah, pushing back Heart of Darkness was a 100% correct choice. It was causing a lot of furor in the CID forum, and it would've been basically impossible to test with any thoroughness in the 2.5 weeks available. Most CIDs in that time frame have something like 5-8 new models. This one has around 27. So it's going to be hard enough to get useful Infernals feedback before factoring in almost every model in Cygnar, Khador, and Crucible Guard.

I will say that the Heart of Darkness is probably a very smart Theme Force. I mean, seriously, how interesting an idea is that? My old X army plus adding the Infernal options?

Oblivion is what? They're doing a book? I missed that. So, back to annual expansion books?

Oblivion is the campaign book I mentioned forgetting about. From Matt Wilson's insider:

"Following the release of the Infernals Faction is WARMACHINE: OBLIVION, which takes us into the dark heart of the Infernal apocalypse known as “The Claiming.” Oblivion will contain a lengthy, multiplayer campaign for WARMACHINE and HORDES that portrays the plight of humanity and its allies in their fight against the Infernals. The campaign will support multiple players through a series of story-filled scenarios that are played at a variety of sizes, from Company of Iron skirmishes to full-blown battles, each one impacting your next battle to come. In addition to background and stats for Infernals, Oblivion will also detail new models, including the Order of Illumination—Morrowan demon hunters determined to strike back at the heart of the Infernals—and Archons, supernatural champions sent into battle by the gods themselves. Every Faction in WARMACHINE and HORDES, whether a human nation, an ally of humans, an enemy of mankind, or just opportunists ready to rake in the chips where they fall, will be able to incorporate something from the pages of Oblivion into their armies."

Okay, this is awesome. After the Grymkin got the artbook (which was nice, don't get me wrong) and Crucible got nada, this is a nice, nice change.

Got to play Company of Iron! 20 point Protectorate vs Retribution.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/393122689

I had:
3 Cinerators with one being my Commander (Mission Specialist)
5 Skyhammers + Leader
1 Vassal of Menoth

He had:
6 Ryssovass Defenders with his commander having Territorial Defender.
4 Stormfall Archers
1 Floutist (homebrew little buffy guy who costs 1)

We rolled for scenario, both agreeing we hated the one we got, and rerolled. We ended up with Salvage Hunt. It had been a while since we played, so we had to get some help (the fact we're the two most inexperienced players doesn't help).

Round 1 was us getting into position for the most part. I did manage to put some fear into him with my Skyhammers, thankfully.

Round 2 began the fight in earnest. Sorta. I tried to take out his commander by one of the markers, but failed. I did manage to obtain 3 of them, using Vengence from my failed attack on his commander to scootch up to objectives, grab them, then a Tactics card to let me reposition 3" after! The grouping of my Skyhammers was their undoing when his Archers laid into me.

Round 3 decided the game. He won the priority roll, so he charged and got my Vassal. Without the objective token on the Vassal? I couldn't go for the tie - I conceded right there.

I just ordered the Protectorate Mk 3 starter box. Malekeus might be interesting to have, but frankly it was on sale for $20. So, getting a Repenter, a Revenger, and a Castigator for that price? Too good to pass up :)

Right now I'm debating about having either an actual Warmachine game with my buddy Banzaizap or more Aristeia this Saturday.

My buddies are moving their deleted Twitch games to YouTube :)

So, Warhamchine and Company of Iron. Please forgive the scrubbiness of myself and Jonathan ;)

Wow, the privateer site is finally back! Well, sort of, they have a lot of work left to do on it. But some progress is better than none!

As for why it was down for "maintenance" for almost a month, well, there's a post. From it: "The old site was antiquated by Web design standards, and to underscore that fact, a few weeks ago, it gave one final death rattle—and then just plain broke. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t fix that Frankenstein’s monster of a website. The code was ancient and out of date and couldn’t keep up as the rest of the world marched forward."

Kick the can down the road enough and eventually stuff breaks!
